I like to think of myself as a "cool mom", but as I am now 40 I am not so sure of that anymore....

You Know You’re a Working Mom When…

June 30, 2015 by thiscoolmom 1 Comment

  • You think Kraft Easy Mac is one of the best inventions in the modern world.
  • Mornings are auto-pilot and by the time you actually get to work you have no idea what just happened.
  • Your cubicle or office is the only place you can sit in peace.
  • Going to the bathroom at work is something to look forward to because it’s a fact that you can pee without tiny eyes watching!
  • Your work friends have a comprehensive background about you and your family…probably more than they need to know.
  • Wine nights take place often, even on work nights.
  • Coffee is a key part of the day- it’s a huge plus if the office has a Keurig.
  • Checking Facebook during the day is super depressing, especially when all of your non-working mom friends are posting pics and selfies with their kids at the beach/park/picnic.
  • Your work wardrobe is getting old, because you spend money on your kids clothes. And you just don’t care.
  • Keeping track of vacation/sick/personal/PTO is super stressful and you pray you don’t have to use any of those days on your own illnesses.
  • It’s pretty much a given that you can’t remember the last time you washed your hair.
  • Your house looks like a bomb went off, even if you just cleaned.
  • The floor of your car looks like a closet/toy chest with plenty of empty water bottles and juice cups scattered throughout.
  • Dinner consists of weekend leftovers, chicken nuggets and pasta. And wine.
  • You rely on Disney Junior to help babysit kids while making said dinner.
  • You envy SAHMs but at the same time don’t want to be one.
  • The piles of laundry in the house are just EMBARRASSING.
  • Holidays are even more special because you know you have OFF from work!
  • You race home at the end of the day to get home to squeeze your babies.

So true and funny Jaime!! Being a stay at home mom is not all rainbows and butterflies!!! I am home during the week with my kids and I work 12 hour night shifts on the weekends. I actually look forward to going to work most of the time! But of course I miss them when I’m gone. Even being home during the week, I can relate to all of the above!!! We just have to do the best we can, do what’s best for our families! No matter what, our children know we love them and would do anything for them ❤️

Thanks for visiting my blog, which is a work in progress. I'm a (cool) mom & wife with a full time job, trying to balance it all. My interests include Pinot Grigio, Netflix, blogging, fashion, the treadmill & reading celeb gossip when I am not busy packing lunches & wiping butts. Cheers!
